What is the difference between satin and silk?

There is often confusion between satin and silk. However, they are not the same thing.

Satin is a type of weave.

Satin refers to a weaving technique called satin weave. This method produces a smooth fabric, shiny on the right side and matte on the reverse, with no visible weave. Satin can be made from different fibers: Silk Cotton Polyester Synthetic fibers Synthetic fibers Thus, satin is not a material, but a weave structure. Silk is a natural fiber. data-start="795" data-end="798">

Silk is a natural fiber of animal origin, produced by the silkworm. It is known for its exceptional properties:

  • Natural softness
  • Elegant shine
  • Breathability
  • Moisture absorption
  • Suitable for sensitive skin
  • What is the concrete difference?
  • A polyester satin may be shiny, but it lacks the breathability and thermoregulatory properties of natural silk.
Synthetic satins are made from chemical fibers, absorb little moisture, and are less permeable to air.

Silk satin, on the other hand, combines the satin weaving technique with a 100% natural fiber. This is what gives it its luxurious feel and superior qualities.
